- HONG ISLAND - This limestone island has a beach and is surrounded by coral reef. To get to the islands takes about one hour by boat from Ao Nang beach.
- AO NANG BEACH - There are around 83 small islands of various size and shapes in the bay off this beach. A boat trip or a sightseeing tour can be arranged from here. Either talk to one of the many 'long-tail' boat skippers or go on an organised tour one of the hotels or tour agencies offer.
- BEACH FUN - Railey beach provides a great beach area at low tide for frisbee throwing (either on sand or in the water) or a game of football with the locals. There's a permanent volleyball net too, where you can play for hours with other enthusiastic players.
- PHI PHI ISLANDS - The superb scenery of these islands include beaches of silvery sand, emerald green sea, coral reefs and an abundance of colourful marine life.
Adventures
- CANOEING - There are various establishments particularly on Ao Phra Nang and Railey beaches where you can hire canoes, either by hour or by day. A few charter companies in the area also offer canoeing expeditions along the coast or around the islands in the area.
- SNORKELING, SCUBA DIVING and FISHING TRIPS are organized from most beaches, some offering canoeing in two-person kayaks, sailing and windsurfing. If some sport is not offered at your beach, you can easily take one of the regular long-tail boats to the next beach and probably find it there.
- ROCK CLIMBING - This is a popular pastime in Krabi and the limestone cliffs in the area seem to have been created by nature for this very purpose. World renowned for the spectacular views and accessibility the cliffs of Krabi see flocks of tourists and avid climbers annually. One of the more popular, particularly with inexperienced climbers is the climb to see the Princess Lagoon and the scintillating views across the karst landscape both inland and out to sea that lies next to Railey Beach. There are fixed ropes to assist you at the steeper points, but most of it is a forest hike. Access is at the south end of either Railey East or Phra Nang beach.
Shopping
Shopping in Krabi for many is an exciting and pleasurable experience. Whether you are shopping for a suit or bargain hunting, looking for that extra special 'something' for someone special back home whatever it is, shopping in Thailand can be fun. Street vendors often seem to be on every street corner showing you their goods (with a calculator in one hand) from silk scarves, hammocks and sarongs to laser pens etc. If you are interested in any of the wares you find, then it is time to start bargaining, If you are not interested in what is on offer, simply smile and continue on your way.
Food
It is said that no one shall starve in Thailand; this goes well with the Krabi province as well. In each and every street, there shall be a restaurant. Western food shall be available at all island resorts. Thai food is highly spicy. Unless you specify your requirement of non - spicy food, you are likely to get fire in your mouth. Coconut curries are very popular but they are likely to be spicy. Yellow Squid Curry - Patpong Curry Pla Mulk - is a popular dish. Keng Kai or chicken curry shall very tasty and palatable if you can put up with some amount of spice.
